

David L. Colvin
David L. Colvin founded the Colvin Law Firm in 1980, recognizing the need for legal services of the highest quality for the people of the New Orleans area. A graduate of Loyola University School of Law and the University of Southwestern Louisiana, David L. Colvin has spent his life working with and for the people of Louisiana. In addition to his work at the Colvin Law Firm, David also spent fourteen years serving as an Assistant Parish Attorney for Jefferson Parish, overseeing the Parish’s land use litigation during that time. Mr. Colvin also currently serves as an Associate Professor of Law at Tulane University Law School, training students in courtroom methods and techniques in trial advocacy classes.
Mr. Colvin is an active member of several local civic groups. He serves on the Jefferson Parish Economic Development and Port District Board of Commissioners (JEDCO). He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Jefferson Parish Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Colvin is currently serving a two-year term as a member of the House of Delegates for the Louisiana Bar Association.
David Colvin is admitted to practice in all Louisiana state courts, as well as the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, the United States District Court for the Middle District of Louisiana, the Federal Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, the Federal Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of Louisiana, and the Federal Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Jeffery P. Brothers
Jeffery P. Brothers has been practicing law in Jefferson Parish and the Greater New Orleans area for the past 16 years. Mr. Brothers was born and raised in the New Orleans area.
Mr. Brothers received a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Louisiana State University in 1990. He obtained his law degree of Juris Doctor from L.S.U. Law School in May of 1993 and was admitted and licensed to practice law in October of 1993.
For the past 16 years, Mr. Brothers has been practicing in the areas of divorce, custody and support law, personal injury law, real estate and expropriation law, business and commercial law and succession and estate law.
In the area of divorce law, Mr. Brothers has the experience to handle non-contested cases efficiently and the knowledge to provide thorough representation in the complicated cases. Mr. Brothers has been successful in handling difficult custody and support cases involving parents and also involving grandparents.
In the area of business and real estate, Mr. Brothers has valuable experience handling contractual matters, starting a business, and transactions involving real estate. Finally, Mr. Brothers has resolved successfully several insurance and personal injury claims of his clients against insurance companies and their adjusters. Mr. Brothers has handled cases involving minor injuries and cases involving more extensive injuries, such as disk and ligament injuries, which have required surgery.
If settlement of a legal dispute is possible, Mr. Brothers has the necessary experience to negotiate a desirable resolution to the legal dispute. However, when the opposing party is not being fair, Mr. Brothers will pursue the matter in court as he has done on numerous occasions in the past 16 years.


Mark C. Morgan
Mark C. Morgan has a diverse practice, including municipal law, voting rights/redistricting defense, construction litigation, employment law, commercial transactions, regulatory law, and criminal defense. Mr. Morgan has participated in more than 125 trials, and has been lead attorney on more than forty jury trials. Mr. Morgan is a former Jefferson Parish Assistant District Attorney, Special Counsel to the Attorney General, Magistrate Pro Tempore for Gretna City Court, and Judge Pro Tempore for Division B of the Second Parish Court for Jefferson Parish.
Mr. Morgan is currently serving as the Gretna City Attorney and City Prosecutor. He also represents defendants for the Indigent Defense Board of the 24th Judicial District Court. He serves as an adjunct professor at Tulane University Law School, teaching Trial Advocacy. Mr. Morgan was named the District Chairman for the 100th Anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America. Finally, Mr. Morgan represents the cities of Gretna, Harvey, and Terrytown on the Jefferson Parish School Board, and was elected President of the School Board in 2008.
A graduate of Tulane University Law School, Mr. Morgan received his undergraduate degree from Ohio University, and attended high school at Benjamin Franklin Senior High School. While at Tulane University Law School, Mr. Morgan received the James A. Wysoki Award for Trial Advocacy, receiving the highest overall grade in Trial Advocacy. He attended Ohio University on an athletic scholarship for swimming, and was honored as an Academic All-American athlete.

Travis J. Causey, Jr.
Mr. Travis J. Causey, Jr. specializes in personal injury, maritime personal injury, railroad personal injury, and municipal law questions. After receiving his undergraduate degree at Louisiana State University in English, Mr. Causey earned his J.D. from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University. He also earned a Master of Arts in English from the University of Texas at Austin. While at L.S.U. Law School, Mr. Causey served as a member of the Jessup International Moot Court Team and was a member of the Chancellor’s List.
Mr. Causey has been the recipient of several academic honors, including a National Merit Scholarship, the L.S.U. Alumni Federation Scholarship, the T.H. Harris Scholarship, the State Literary Rally Scholarship, the College of Arts and Sciences Honor Award, the Phi Eta Sigma Graduate Scholarship, the Dean’s List National Scholarship, the Katherine David Gravel Scholarship, the Board of Supervisors Scholarship and the L.S.U. Alumni Association Scholarship. Mr. Causey is a member of Phi Beta Phi, Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Delta Phi, Phi Eta Sigma, and Mu Sigma Rho honor societies.
Mr. Causey served as a law clerk to the Honorable Charles Grisbaum, Jr. of the Louisiana Fifth Circuit Court of Appeal.


Ashley J. Becnel
Ashley J. Becnel is a cum laude graduate of Tulane Law School with a certificate in Sports Law. Ms. Becnel attended Tulane Law School on academic scholarship and, while there, earned the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Civil Litigation: Strategy and Practice, as well as a Pro Bono Award for her volunteer service. Ms. Becnel served as Senior Managing Editor of The Sports Lawyers Journal, and was a member of the Sports Law Society. Finally, Ms. Becnel has authored two articles for publication in a national law journal.
Majoring in English and economics, Ms. Becnel received her undergraduate degree from Tulane University, which she attended on academic scholarship. She also received the Distinguished Scholar Award and participated in English and economics honor societies.
Ms. Becnel has worked closely with judges at the federal and state levels, interning for judges at both the Louisiana and the United States Courts of Appeal.
Ms. Becnel’s primary areas of practice include municipal law, business and commercial law, estate planning and administration, general civil litigation, and writ and appellate practice. She is admitted to practice in all Louisiana state courts, as well as in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana.
